Mesa Holds Off Late PC Bears Comeback to Win, 65-60

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds defeated the Phoenix College Bears Tuesday night, 65-60, to finish off the regular season on a high note.

The T-Birds came out hot, shooting 44 percent from the field in the first half and taking a 41-24 advantage into halftime.  Adonis Arms scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half.

Mesa's highest lead at one point was 19 points but a fervent Bear comeback cut Mesa's lead down to just one with two minutes to play in regulation.  A Sindou Diallo layup and two Brent Kimbrell free-throws would ice the game for Mesa and the T-Birds would take home a five point win.

Ramon Franklin finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Mesa while Adonis Arms and Sindou Diallo each scored 16 points for the T-Birds.

Mesa finishes the regular season with 16-13 overall record and 14-8 conference record.  The T-Birds will now head to the conference tournament as the #3 seed and will have to travel to Cochise College this coming, March 3rd, for a semi-final matchup with the Apaches.  The championship game will then be held on Monday, March 5th, at the highest seed.  Times for games will be determined within the next day.
