Beyers Drills Three From the Corner to Seal Victory for Mesa vs Chandler-Gilbert, 73-70

Mesa, AZ - With two seconds remaining on the game clock and tied at 70, Mesa's Mikel Beyers connected on a three-pointer from the corner to give the T-Birds the three point victory, 73-70.

Mesa had 18 seconds to attempt some sort of shot at victory and after a couple driving attempts with no shot, Beyers ended up with the ball in the corner and sealed the deal for the T-Birds.  On the night, that was Beyers second three as he finished with eight total points.  Leading the way for Mesa in points was Sindou Diallo, finishing with 16 points while Errol Newman finished with 13 points.  Ramon Franklin added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

It was a battle in the paint all night as both teams combined for 78 points.  Mesa on the night however forced 16 Coyotes turnovers which turned into 23 T-Bird points.

In both games this season against Chandler-Gilbert, Mesa has scored 73 points with the total margin of victory being only four points.

With the victory, Mesa moves to 12-11 overall and 10-6 in ACCAC play.  The T-Birds will travel to Coolidge, AZ on Saturday for a 4 pm start time with Central Arizona College.
