Indian Hills Powers Past Mesa T-Birds, 80-66

Mesa, AZ - The magic of the long ball for the Mesa Thunderbirds just wasn't there tonight as they were defeated by the Indian Hills Warriors, 80-66, in the semi-final round of the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout.

Mesa did connect on nine three pointers but attempted 34 on the night, ending in a lot of missed shots, Indian Hills rebounds and points on the other end of the court.

In the first four minutes of the game, Mesa held a 10-2 advantage but the Warriors battled back, eventually taking the lead at the 11:30 point of the first half.  It was a lead that Indian Hills would never relinquish for the rest of the contest.

The T-Birds did get within one point twice in the second half, but the Warriors stormed away on an 8-0 run to spread the margin to 54-45.

Leading scorers for Mesa were Adonis Arms and Bryce Cheney, each scoring 15 points while Brent Kimbrel knocked in eight points.

Mesa will now play in the 6 pm third place game on Saturday evening against the loser of the South Plains Texans and College of Southern Idaho game.
