Offensive Explosion Helps Mesa Top Lethbridge College, 93-55

Mesa, AZ - It was a nice way for the Mesa Thunderbirds men's basketball team to prepare for the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout next week as they defeated Lethbridge College, 93-55, Monday night at Theo Heap Gym.

The Thunderbirds blazed past the Kodiak quickly in the first half, outscoring Lethbridge, 60-33.  Antwan Ross-Jones finished with 14 points and six rebounds to lead Mesa while Mikel Beyers knocked in 12 points on five of six shooting.

It was Bryce Cheney who paced the T-Birds in the second half, scoring 11 of his 18 game high points on 7-11 shooting.  On the night, the T-Birds shot a sharp 52.5 percent (32-61) while scoring 28 points on 24 Lethbridge turnovers.

With the first half of the season over for the T-Birds, they look forward now to the annual Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout hosted by Mesa on December 28, 29, and 30th.  Mesa will begin the tournament on the 28th playing #4 Salt Lake Community College at 6 pm.  For more information on the tournament, click on the link below.
