Mesa, AZ - Down five at halftime, 37-32, the Mesa men's basketball team battled back to win over conference foe Tohono O'Odham, 79-74.
Led by sophomore Bryce Cheney, who finished with 17 points on 7-10 shooting from the field, helped Mesa outscore the Jego's in the second half, 47-32.
Along with Cheney, freshman Errol Newman finished with a double-double, scoring 19 points and hauling in 15 rebounds.
A huge part to the second half comeback for the T-Birds was their 82 percent (24-29) free-throw shooting, nailing 16-19 in the second half alone.
Mesa moves to 2-4 on the regular season but have a 2-1 conference record. The T-Birds will be on the road this coming Saturday at Chandler-Gilbert with a 4 pm tip.
