Thunderbirds Slam Down Win on Last Day of Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout, 112-62

Mesa, AZ - Coming out with the same energy and fire from yesterday's first half, Mesa made sure to end things on a high note today.  The T-Birds finished strong and defeated Benedictine University-Mesa JV, 112-62, on the final day of the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout.

The T-Birds let it rain from three early on.  Knocking down three pointers were Brent Kimbrel, Antwan Ross-Jones and Austin Denham, who combine for seven long balls in the first nine minutes of the game.

But the Mesa big men helped out the three point barage by collecting offensive rebounds and finding open shooters.  Noe Anabir and Edward Hardt anchored the low post, collecting seven offensive rebounds that turned into 12 Mesa second-chance points.

Denham led all Mesa scorers with 19 points, connecting on six three-pointers while Antwan Ross-Jones nailed five three's, finishing with 14 points.

Jamil Wilson-Jones knotched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, also adding three assists and three steals to his final totals.  Noe Anabir had 11 rebounds and eight points on the afternoon.

Mesa forced 25 Redhawk turnovers that turned into 33 points on Mesa's end.  The T-Birds also controlled the paint, outscoring Ben-U 44-16.

Now with a 9-3 overall record, Mesa will have four days off before starting conference play in Coolidge, AZ against Central Arizona.
