Men's Basketball Travel to Douglas for Semi-Final Match Against Cochise College Tonight at 7:30 p.m.

It's playoff time in the ACCAC, with the Mesa Thunderbirds being the fourth seed in the ACCAC DI, they will travel down to Douglas, AZ to face off against the Cochise Apaches, the one seed.

Mesa and Cochise split the two contests they had against each other this season.  The first came way back at the beginning of the season in November at Mesa.  At that time, Mesa was rolling full throttle with healthy and eliigible players.  The T-Birds won a high scoring affair, 92-86.   Mesa shot 48 percent from the floor, had big nights from Kyle Bingham, who finished with 13 points and Obi Megwa who finished 15 points.  Also having a big night was Mitch Burnett who 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block shot.

In January these two met again in Douglas, with Cochise showing the hometown treatment with a hot gym and tougher play on the court as the Apaches scolded the T-Birds, 79-61.  Cochise used a full court press that upset the Mesa ryhthym which the Apaches capitilized off of on the offensive side.

Cochise comes into this semi-final winning five of its last seven while Mesa has won four of its last seven games.  This Mesa squad has a complete different dynamic from the T-Bird squad that beat these Apaches back in November but come in with the same toughness and determination that all Sam Ballard teams have.
