Mesa, AZ- The Mesa T-Birds didn't allow a 9-2 deficit in the first five minutes of the game detour them from executing their offense and taking home a big win over Chandler-Gilbert Wednesday night,
Like he has all season, Obi Megwa led the way for the T-Birds with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Johnny Guarisco let the three's rain down as he connected on 5-7 three's, finishing with 20 points and two assists.
With the T-Birds down 9-2, Mesa mounted a 20-2 run over the next five minutes, with Sam Hainline contributing seven of those 20 points.
Mesa took a nine point lead into halftime, 33-24.
In the second half, Mesa used three three pointers, two from Guarisco, the other from Jordan Higgins, to push their lead to 52-35.
Chandler-Gilbert wouldn't slink away into the night as they battled back into the game, cutting Mesa's lead down to eight. Mesa was just too exact in their offense and didn't let the Coyotes get any closer.
The T-Birds outrebounded the Coyotes 49-20 for the game.
Mesa will be on the road for their last two games, the first at Eastern Arizona on Saturday then down in Sells, AZ against Tohono O'Oodham.
