T-Birds withstand Jegos, win, 78-75

Mesa, AZ- Mesa seems to enjoy three point victories considering the fact that in their last four victories, three have been won by three points.  Tonight was no different for the Mesa men's basketball team as they defeated the Tohono O'Oodham Jegos, 78-75.

Mesa was led by big man Kyle Bingham, who finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, four block shots while shooting 7-9 from the freethrow line.

Mesa jumped out to a big lead out of the gates, getting up 14-3 in the first three minutes but within a seven minutes span, the Jegos eliminated that lead and took a lead of their own, 20-17.

Both teams exchanged buckets for the rest of the half, with Mesa taking a 41-39 lead.

It was the same story in the second half, as both teams kept exchanging buckets but neither team could get into a rythym because of how many fouls were being called.

With 12 minutes to play, a Sam Hainline layup extended Mesa's lead to 10 but again, the Jegos battled back, cutting the Mesa lead to three with 5:37 to play.  But seven straight Bingham points pushed the T-Birds back ahead and in comfortable distance of the Jegos.

With the win, Mesa has won four straight and they improve their record to 9-7 overall and 8-3 in the ACCAC standings.
