Men's Basketball overcomes late Aztec rally, win in Tucson, 76-69

Tucson, AZ- Mesa Men's basketball overcame a strong Aztec rally in the second half to win on the road, 76-69.

Obi Megwa once again led the T-Birds at the point guard position, scoring 18 points on 7-12 shooting.

Kyle Bingham, Johnny Guarisco, and Mitch Burnett all scored 13 points for Mesa with Nate Jimerson chipping in with eight points. 

Mesa shot well in the in the first half, shooting 16-35(.457) from the field and going 4-4 from the free throw line.

The T-Birds went into halftime with a 41-33 lead and with 14:14 in the second went up by their largest margin, 53-38.  

But the Aztecs battled back into the game and with 5:22 left in the second half even took a two point lead.  The lead didn't last long though as Mesa converted their free throws and took back the lead about two minutes later.  

Mesa shot 16-27 from the line in the second half which helped give the T-Birds their fifth (5-4) victory of the season and fourth(4-3) win in the ACCAC.

Mesa will be off for two weeks before starting up the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout at Mesa Community College December 27,28,29.
