Men's basketball signs point guard Megwa from Phoenix Central
MESA, AZ - Just a couple of weeks after signing a big man, the Mesa men's basketball team has gone to the other end of the spectrum and added point guard Obi Megwa, of Phoenix Central H.S., for the 2015-16 season.
Megwa played a huge roll in the Bobcats' run to the state Division I quarter finals, finishing with a 25-6 record.
He averaged 17 points and 4.2 assists for coach Darren Bustos' squad. Megwa was chosen Phoenix Union School District Player of the Year. In addition he was a second team all-state selection in Division I and Central's team MVP.
He does more than just play basketball. He was in the top 15 percent of his graduating class.
Megwa will join a team that has reached the Region I championship game in both of the last two years and has posted a 71-19 record during the last three years under head coach Sam Ballard.
