Thomas MacVittie, Soni Fonua Headline Mesa Football Players on Signing Day

With signing day upon us, the Mesa Thunderbirds have much to be proud about as they are seeing a number of its players signing with prestigious next level programs.

Headling the list of signees is quarterback Thomas MacVittie, who has signed with the Kansas Jayhawks, and linebacker/defensive end Soni Fonua, who has inked with the LSU Tigers.

Defensive back Sam Westfall has signed with the SMU Mustangs while Kordell Pillans has inked with the Montana Grizzlies.

Mesa is also proud to announce that Luke Laufenberg, who played tight end for the T-Birds during the 2017 season, and who battled and beat leukemia just after that 2017 season, has signed to play at UTEP.

"I am so proud of the work these young men," said Mesa Head Football Coach Ryan Felker, "these men are making the next to step to better their lives.  It's bittersweet knowing it's the last signing period for the Mesa football program."
