Soni Fonua Earns WSFL Defensive Player of the Week

Defensive end Soni Fonua has earned Western States Football League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Eastern Arizona College in week three.  Fonua anchored a defense that helped beat the Gila Monsters, 26-21.

Fonua recorded 12 total tackles (4 solo, 8 assisted), four tackles for loss (-9 yards), one sack (-7 yards) while forcing and recovering one fumble with one quarterback hurry.

For the Mesa Thunderbirds, this is their second WSFL Player of the Week honoree this season, Christian Lopez earning the Offensive Player of the Week this last week.
