Mesa Football Lends Support to Arizona Law Enforcement Outreach & Support Code 3 Sports

The Mesa Thunderbirds football team helped the Arizona Law Enforcement Outreach & Support Code 3 Sports in its 7th Annual Battle of the Badges Teen Football Game held about a month ago.

Dawning the Mesa red and white jersey, teens from across the valley participated in the annual game in Phoenix, AZ.

The Arizona LEOS appreciated the Mesa Thunderbirds for their support.

"Teens from group homes, social services, Boys and Girls Club and local high schools participated in AZLEOS Code 3 Sports Football.  Teens joined with 2 First Responder Teams; North Valley Sentinels and the South Valley Paladins, who were preparing to face each other in the Battle of the Badges Hope Charity Game.

Each of the First Responder Teams (Police, Fire, EMS, Military) were paired with a team full of Teens from their areas.  The Teen teams got to practice every week with the adult First Responders, where they not only got coached by the First Responders, but also got to know them on a personal level.

...the teen teams then got to play each other under the lights at Coronado High School stadium before the Battle of the Badges.  To make their game a little more special the Teens got to wear authentic college football jerseys from the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds Football program.  We really hope that many of our Teens will consider continuing their education as MCC Thunderbirds on their way to becoming First Responders."

The Mesa Community College Athletic Department thanks the Arizona LEOS for their continued efforts to make our communities stronger and better.
