Four More T-Birds Off to D1

The Mesa football program is sending four more players on to D1 schools with the latest signings this morning.  

Devin Brunetti, Jalen Jenkins, Danielson Auelua and Austin Carver will be moving on next year to play at D1 schools.  Cedric Gonzalez also signed with DII school, Washburn Ichabods.

In total for Mesa now this season, they have had 12 players sign on to play at the next level, eight of which are D1 schools and four to DII schools.

Football Signing Day a Success Link

Auelua, a sophomore out of Highland, UT, has signed with the Boise State Broncos, a member of the Mountain West Conference.  In his two years at Mesa, Auelua had 77 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  Auelua was a WSFL Honorable Mention at the DT position.

Brunetti, a center and anchor of the offensive line, has signed with the Southern Illinois Salukis, a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference.  He started 22 games at center for the T-Birds in his time at Mesa.  Brunetti earned 1st Team All-ACCAC at the center position and 2nd Team All-WSFL at the center position.

Jenkins, a sophomore out of Chandler, AZ, has signed as a preferred walk-on for the Arizona Wildcats.  In his two years at Mesa, Jenkins had 83 total tackles and three interceptions in 14 games for the T-Birds.

Carver, a sophomore out of Gilbert, AZ, has signed with the Montana Grizzlies, a member of the Big Sky Conference.  In his two years at Mesa, Carver connected on 11 field goals with his longest coming from 37.  He also was 48-55 with extra point and had 10 punts for 412 yards with three being touched down inside the 20.  Carver earned Honorable Mention All-WSFL at the kicker position.

Gonzalez, a sophomore out of Tucson, AZ, signed with the Washburn Ichabods, a DII school who is a member of the Mid-America Intercolliate Athletics Association.  In his two years at Mesa, Gonzalez recorded 87 total tackles and one sack.  9.5 of those tackles were tackles for loss.
