Olomua to Kansas State highlights Mesa's signing day activities
MESA, AZ - On the first day of the NCAA's spring signing period, the Mesa football program sent 17 players off to four-year schools, with seven headed to the highest classification, the Football Subdivision formerly known as the BCS.
With more likely to come later in the spring, Mesa has now sent 20 players to FBS schools over the past two seasons. The full list of T-Birds who have moved on the four-year schools can be found under the "Mesa to 4-year" link at the top of the football page on Mesatbirdsports.com.
With several committments having already been announed, the top addition was defensive lineman Aulelio Olomua (So., Mesa, AZ/Mesa H.S.) who will play at Kansas State next season. He was MCC's third leading tackler in 2014 with a total of 83, including six for losses.
Among other previously announced signings, quarterback Austin Apodaca (So., Longmont, Colo/Silver Creek H.S.) is headed to New Mexico, offensive lineman Brandon Pertile will be at Oklahoma State and defensive back Derron Williams-Brown (Fr., Laveen, AZ/Fairfax H.S.) to California.
