Division I offers rolling in for Mesa football

MESA, AZ - A year ago Mesa sent 35 players to four-year shools, including some of the best known in the country, among them USC, California, Kansas, Oregon State, Arizona State and many more.

Already this year the offers are starting to come in.

Despite a rash of injuries that caused MCC to struggle this year, seven T-Birds have already been offered by NCAA Division I schools. One has already made a commitment. Offensive lineman Brandon Pertie (So., Clearwater, Fla/Countryside H.S.) has already accepted an offer from Oklahoma State. Unfortunately for MCC, he has not been able to play this year due to an injury suffered in a pre-season scrimmage.

Quarterback Austin Apodaca (So., Longmont, Colo/Silver Creek H.S.) has an offer from New Mexico, while defensive end Aulelio Olomua (So., Mesa, AZ/Mesa H.S.) has an offer from both Kansas State and Utah State.

Defensive back Derron Williams-Brown (Fr., Laveen, AZ/Fairfax H.S.) has California and Hawaii after his services and offensive guard Andrew Erbes (Fr., Scottsdale, AZ/Saguaro H.S.) has Memphis waiting.

In addition, cornerback D.J. Hampton (So., Glendale, AZ/Kellis H.S.) has an offer from Idaho and the Vandals also want defensive tackle Bennie Spencer (So., Miami, Fla/Everglades H.S.).
