Mesa Battles to the End but Falls 5-4 to NOC-Enid in Title Game

Enid, OK - The Mesa Thunderbirds battled hard to the end but fell just short of their goal of winning a national championship as Northern Oklahoma College - Enid defeated the T-Birds, 5-4, in front of the largest crowd that David Allen Ballpark has hosted in its 20 years.

Mesa had a few chances to push runners across home plate including having runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth inning but a soft flyball to right field ended the Thunderbirds hopes.

Despite the loss, the T-Birds never backed down or surrendered when things looked grim.  Individually, three Mesa players earned spots on the All-Tournament team.  Ben Ferguson, Connor Denning and Carter Robinson made the team as Carter Robinson was also awarded with pitcher of the tournament.

"I am just so proud of these guys and how hard they worked, how hard they fought.  They just kept grinding," said Head Coach Tony Cirelli.

Mesa finishes the 2019 season with a 44-23 overall record.
