Robinson Throws Complete Game Gem, #1 Mesa Wins 3-0 in Game One

Mesa, AZ - Another masterful performance by sophomore right-handed pitcher Carter Robinson helps Mesa take a game one victory, this time against the Gateway Geckos, 3-0, to take a one game lead in the Region I / ACCAC DII Championship series.

Robinson pitched a complete game, throwing nine innings, allowing three hits, no runs, walking two while striking out five.

Mesa's first run came by way of a hit by pitch, as Paul Steffensen took one for the team with the bases loaded, scoring Luke Patty, who reached base to start the third inning.  The T-Birds other two runs came in the eighth inning as Greg Student and Paul Steffensen singled to lead off the inning.  Student moved to third on Steffensen's single and with curtesy runner Brian So on second and the Gecko infield playing in, Josh Leslie singled up the middle, scoring both Student and So, finalizing Mesa's three runs.

The T-Birds look to take the series tomorrow as game two starts at 3 pm at MCC.
