Mesa, AZ - The #13 Mesa Thunderbirds lost Friday afternoon to the South Mountain Cougars, 4-3.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the Birds as they had four errors on the defensive side of the ball and hit into four double-plays, including the final at bat with runners on first and second base.
Even more frustrating was the fact that Mesa starting pitcher Cameron Doherty pitched very well, but a four-run fifth inning, that included two Mesa errors and a three-run Cougar homerun, changed the outcome of the rest of the final four innings.
Mesa moves to 33-18 overall and 16-17 in conference play. The T-Birds and Cougars will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at South Mountain, first pitch at noon.
