T-Birds Win in Extra's at Gateway, 6-5

Mesa, AZ - The #17 Mesa Thunderbirds used extra innings to defeat the Gateway Geckos, 6-5,  Friday afternoon at Gene Autry Park in Mesa, AZ.

The 10 inning affair was polished off by Mesa pitcher Nolan Ruff, who struck out the last three batters of the game to solidify the conference win.

All-in-all, Mesa starting pitcher Cameron Doherty and Ruff combined for 15 total strikeouts without allowing a walk.  Doherty pitched six solid innings while Ruff finished the final four innings, earning the victory in the end.

The T-Birds and Geckos will finish their two-game weekend series Saturday afternoon at noon at MCC.
