Thatcher, AZ - With the Mesa Thunderbirds baseball team moving up to the #1 spot in the NJCAA DII rankings, the T-Birds showed why they deserve that position by sweeping a double-header with Eastern Arizona College, 6-1, 16-5, Tuesday afternoon in Thatcher, AZ.
Carter Robinson threw a complete game one, allowing three hits, striking out eight batters with one walk. For Robinson, it was his third win of the season.
In game two, Mesa collected a season high 22 hits, while scoring their highest run total of the season with 16.
The T-Birds also surpassed the 30 win mark, earning wins 30 and 31. For Head Coach Tony Cirelli, this is his 13th season with at least 30 wins or more.
Mesa is 31-4 overall and 16-4 in ACCAC play. The T-Birds will play Friday at home against Central Arizona College at 3 pm then at Central Arizona College on Saturday at noon.
