#3 Mesa Take 6-1 Victory Over #7 Western Oklahoma State College

Mesa, AZ - It's spring break time for the student's at Mesa Community College which means it's non-conference baseball time for the T-Birds.  Already defeating the Grand Canyon Club team earlier in the week twice, Mesa faced a tougher NJCAA DII ranked opponent in the Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers out of Altus, Oklahoma Friday afternoon.

The T-Birds defeated the Pioneers by a score of 6-1, to improve its home record to 22-2 on the season.

Leading the way for the T-Birds was Connor Denning, who went 3-4 with a double and homerun, knocking in two RBI's.  Also collecting a pair of hits was Marcus Skundrich, Riley Peterson and Kelby Richardson.  Mesa had 11 hits total on the afternoon.

On the hill, it was Cameron Doherty who started for Mesa, throwing three innings, giving up three hits and one run, striking out three.  Richard Walker then took over for Doherty, who also pitched three innings, allowing two hits and two strikeouts.  Walker would record the win for Mesa.

The T-Birds now run their record to 28-4 overall.  Mesa will again be in non-conference action tomorrow afternoon when they host Western Nebraska Community College at noon.
