Gilbert, AZ - The #3 Mesa Thunderbirds beat the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes Wednesday afternoon, 9-3, at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The T-Birds put a three spot on the board in both the first and second innings to give Mesa pitchers a comfortable approach throughout the rest of the game.

Mesa collected 14 total hits on the afternoon, with Ben Lewis leading the way, going 3-4 with three runs scored.

The T-Bird defense was able to get out of a few sticky situations with the Coyotes threatening to score.  Mesa turned three double-plays on the day, two of which came with the bases loaded.

Mesa moves to 24-3 overall on the season and 13-3 in ACCAC play.  The T-Birds will play a double-header on Saturday against Cochise College, beginning at noon.
