Garrett Smith Earns ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award
Garrett Smith is the definition of a gritty, tough baseball player. In his two seasons at Mesa, he has been a leader both on and off the field and his efforts have paid off in earning the ABCA/Rawlings Division II Gold Glove at the second base position.
Smith made 56 putouts with 106 assists while turning 10 double-plays. In 165 total chances, Smith only committed three errors. Smith had a .982 fielding percentage in 53 games played.
Along with his solid fielding, Smith had a .333 batting average with 60 hits on the season. He recorded .432 on-base percentage while drawing 28 base on balls. Smith scored 29 runs on the season while stealing eight bases.
