Baseball Moves Up to #4 in Latest NJCAA Polls

Mesa baseball has once again moved up in the polls, this time to #4 in the latest NJCAA rankings, released earlier today.

The T-Birds began the season as the #7 team and with so many ball clubs not being able to have games because of winter weather, Mesa stayed #7 till last week's first regular season poll came out.  The Birds jumped two spots to #5 last week and move up another spot to #4 for this week.

Mesa is 25-8 on the season, 13-7 in the ACCAC.  Chase Merriman is leading Mesa on the hill with a 4-1 record.  He has a 3.20 ERA and he has struck out 30 batters in 39.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Kody Funderburk is hitting .406 with three homeruns and 27 RBI's.  He has recorded seven doubles and two triples on the season as well.

Mesa had two big wins yesterday against Eastern Arizona and will play another tough ACCAC DI opponent on Friday and Saturday against Central AZ.  Friday will be at Central at 3 pm then back at home for a noon start.
