Funderburk, Lewis Score Big Hits for #6 Mesa to Get Past P.V., 3-1

Mesa, AZ - Timely hits and a timely double switch by Tony Cirelli helped the #6 Mesa Thunderbirds beat Paradise Valley Tuesday afternoon, 3-1.

Jared Crockett and Hunter Bross started the scoring right away for Mesa in the bottom of first as Crockett led off with a single with Bross doubling him in, taking a quick 1-0 lead.

The Puma's tied the game in the sixth at 1-1.  But in the bottom half of the inning, Bross walked followed by double by first baseman Kody Funderburk.

Coach Cirelli then made a double switch, pinch hitting Ben Lewis, who came through big with a single to left field, which scored Funderburk from second.

Chase Merriman followed his solid pitching performance against Chandler-Gilbert with another dazzler, going eight innings, allowing six hits and allowing one run.  Jake Suddreth recorded his sixth save of the season to finish off the win.

Mesa moves to 13-2 overall, with a 4-2 conference record.  The T-Birds will play at Paradise Valley tomorrow at 3 p.m.
