Coach Cirelli Records 800th Career Coaching Victory with Win Over AZ Christian, 8-0

Mesa, AZ - With an 8-0 victory over Arizona Christian Tuesday afternoon, Mesa Head Coach Tony Cirelli records his 800th head coaching victory in his illustrious 22 year tenure.

The victory is just a small notch in a laundry list of achievements for Coach Cirelli.  Cirelli took over as head coach of the Thunderbirds back in 1995 after serving as its assistant for 10 years prior to that.  One of his greatest achievements is leading the Thunderbirds to the 2014 DII National Championship, where he was also honored as the NJCAA DII Coach of the Year.  His career record now tallies 800-495 (.617 winning percentage).

The #6 T-Birds move their record to 4-0 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow at 3 p.m. against Arizona Christian, this time at home.
