Baseball Ends Short of World Series Goal

The Mesa Thunderbirds fell short of their goal of the NJCAA World Series but their presence was widely felt not only across the ACCAC but on the national scene all season long.

The 2016 T-Birds recorded their second best record in 11 years, with their best season coming in 2014 when they won the NJCAA World Series.  Mesa finished with a 43-18 overall record.

Individually, Mesa led many individual stat catagories including hits, triples and saves.  Mitchell Morimoto led the country in hits with 96 and triples with 11.  Nick Ohanian led the country in saves with 13, also a Mesa single season record.  Kent Hasler ranked fourth in strikeouts with 106 and second in innings pitched with 102.1.  Matt Mosca finished a 1.86 ERA while Hasler finished with an 1.93 ERA.
