Mesa, AZ- The Mesa Thunderbirds defeated the Gateway Geckos in the Regional Championship Series Thursday afternoon at Mesa, 11-3.
Kent Hasler pitched an eight inning complete game, allowing seven hits and three runs, striking out five and walking only one. Hasler now on the season is 9-1.
Jacob Boston led the battery for Mesa, going 3-4 with two doubles and four RBI's. His double in the fourth scored two important runs to push Mesa ahead for good.
The T-Birds collectively had a dozen hits while drawing six walks.
Game two of the championship series will be tomorrow at Mesa at 3 p.m.
