Mesa Splits a Pair with Pima

Tucson, AZ- Mesa split a pair of games Saturday afternoon against Pima down in Tucson, 4-0(7), 13-8.

Kent Hasler dazzled on the mound in game 1, pitching all seven innings, allowing only one hit, no walks and striking out five.  Mesa's offense had seven hits, scroring two runs in the first inning  to set the tone for game one.

A rough seven run third inning in game two sunk Mesa even though the T-Birds collected 14 hits.

Mesa is now 32-14 overall, 18-13 in the ACCAC, putting Mesa in the third position in the ACCAC DII playoff chase.

An important matchup with Gateway will play out on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The T-Birds and Geckos will a finish a matchup that was postponed from an earlier game in the season.  The game was postponed in the tenth inning tied at 5.  The game will resume at 2 p.m. with the second game following a half hour after game one.  Gateway is currently sitting atop the ACCAC DII standings.
