13 Hits, 9 Runs Not Enough Against Central Arizona

Mesa, AZ- Though the Mesa Thunderbirds had 13 hits and nine runs, it still wasn't enough to topple ACCAC Conference leader Central Arizona College, 12-9.

The T-Birds had plenty of good oppurtunities to score but baserunning mistakes stalled scoring chances.  Jacob Boston tripled off the top of the right field wall in the third inning but Mesa couldn't push him across.

Central went up 7-3 in the seventh when Mitchell Morimoto knocked a two run homer over the right field fence to cut the Vaquero lead to 7-5.

A five run top of the eighth push Central's lead to 12-5.  Mesa wouldn't go away though, scoring four runs themselves in the bottom of the eighth, cutting the lead to 12-9.  With two runners aboard, Hunter Bross strikeout swinging, eliminating the chance for more runs.

Mesa now has lost five straight ACCAC Conference games but have a chance to stop the skid tomorrow at Central, first pitch at noon.
