Another ninth inning rally produces 6-4 baseball win at Glendale

GLENDALE, AZ - James Anderson (So., Henderson, Nev/Coronado H.S.) delivered a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning as Mesa rallied for a final-inning win over Glendale for the second time this year in a 6-4 victory Saturday.

Anderson came through after successive singles by Jordan Zimmerman (So., Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain H.S.), Mitchell Morimoto (Fr., Issaquah, Wash/Issaquah H.S.) and Brady Bate (Fr., Spanish Fork, Utah/Spanish Fork H.S.) all singled off starter Kohn Nixon to start the ninth.

MCC (29-8, 19-7) entered the inning down 4-3 after clawing one run closer in the eighth when Alex Gudac (So., West Jordan, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic H.S.) singled home Jacob Boston (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.).

Bate had gotten the T-Birds off to a quick start with a two-run double in the first that plated Moses and Zimmerman who had each singled.

Starting pitcher Michael Warning (Fr., Henderson, Nev/Coronado H.S.) made that stand up until tiring in the fifth when GCC (13-24, 7-17) scored all four of its runs.

Mesa got outstanding work from the bull pen as Garrett Bowman (So., Roy, Utah/Roy H.S.) went 2.1 innings allowing just one hot and Danny Lutz (So., Phoenix, AZ/Shadow Mountain H.S.) finished the final two with no hits and picked up his fourth win of the year.

Zimmerman and Bate were each 2-4 for MCC.

The T-Birds will host the Arizona Christian JV Tuesday at 3;00 p.m.
