Bats go silent as baseball falls to Glendale, 4-1

MESA, AZ - Mesa's offensive drought continued Friday at the T-Birds fell to Glendale, 4-1, in ACCAC action.

The T-Birds, who have scored just four runs total in their last three games, managed just five hits, with only three through the first eight innings and none after the fourth, until they scratched a run across in the ninth.

The Gauchos (12-23, 7-14) gradually pulled ahead with one run each in the fourth and fifth and then two more in the sixth.

MCC (28-8, 18-7) finally got on the board in the bottom of the ninth when, with two out, Jacob Boston (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on Logan Etherington's (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev/Faith Lutheran H.S.) base hit.

The T-Birds did have a potential rally in the seventh, but left runners on second and third. They also had a runner on second with no outs in the fourth but were unable to take advantage.

The two teams square off Saturday in Glendale at noon.
