GateWay Baseball Downs Mesa, 6-1
GateWay Baseball defeated Mesa 6-1 on Saturday. The Geckos got things moving in the second inning, when Cesar Blanco drew a walk, scoring one run. The team tallied one home run on the day. Kevynn Fernandez went for the long ball in the fifth inning. GateWay got nine hits in the game.  Fernandez, James Warren, and Kaeden Moore each racked up multiple hits. Fernandez led the Geckos with three hits in three at bats. GateWay was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. 
 
Andres Gonzalez earned the victory on the hill for GateWay. The righty went five innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out four.  Kyle Cop and Micky Scheetz entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Zachary Quintana was on the pitcher's mound for Mesa to start the game. The pitcher surrendered three runs on three hits over two innings, striking out two.
 
The Geckos have another conference match-up on Tuesday and Wednesday as the face the defending NJCAA DI National Champions of Central Arizona College. Tuesdays game will be at 2pm at CAC and Wednesdays game will be at home at 3pm.
