Carrillo Delivers Four Hits to Help Baseball Sweep Mesa
Macs Carrillo was in the zone on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading GateWay to a 12-5 win over Mesa.  Carrillo singled in the third, fourth, and seventh, and doubled in the eighth. The Geckos fired up the offense in the first inning when Trey Winget singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. GateWay put up five runs in the fourth inning.  Raenan Padilla, Jeffrey Martz, and Carrillo powered the big inning with RBIs. The Geckos earned the victory despite allowing Mesa to score three runs in the eighth inning. 
 
 
Noah Olson led things off on the pitcher's mound for GateWay. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one. Connor Doolittle started the game for Mesa. The hurler lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and eight runs while striking out one and walking one.  Isaac Rehfield, Michael Riley, and Micky Scheetz each contributed in relief for the Geckos.
 
GateWay smacked one home run on the day. Martz had a homer in the fourth inning scoring three runs. The Geckos tallied 17 hits in the game.  Carrillo, Nathan Greene, Winget, Dominick Cassell, and Diego Trujillo each racked up multiple hits for GateWay. Mesa 13 hits on the day.  
 
Baseball has a non-conference, two game series against Central Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday before they finish their regular season play against Scottsdale on Friday in a 3pm doubleheader at The Gene.
