Baseball Gets Record Breaking Victory Over Mesa!
Trey Winget wasted no opportunities at the plate on Friday, driving in seven runs on three hits to lead GateWay past Mesa 30-9 on Friday, marking the highest scoring game in Geck Nation history for the the Geckos. Winget drove in runs on a triple in the first, a walk in the first, a single in the third, and a double in the fifth. The Geckos earned the victory despite allowing Mesa to score five runs in the second inning. 
 
Zach Martinez earned the win for Geckos. The bulldog went four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits and striking out six.  Connor Thiele threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Luke Brocco started for Mesa. The pitcher allowed eight hits and ten runs.
 
GateWay smacked two home runs on the day. Jeffrey Martz had a four bagger in the second inning to score two runs. Kevynn Fernandez put one out in the first inning to score three runs. The Geckos collected 20 hits on the day.  Winget, Macs Carrillo, Nathan Greene, Raenan Padilla, Martz, and Kaeden Moore each managed multiple hits for GateWay. The Geckos also tallied up a plethora of RBIs during the game. Winget led the way with seven RBIs followed by Fernandez with five, Martez and Greene with four a piece, Moore with three, and Dominick Cassell, James Warren, and Diego Trujillo with two each. 
 
Baseball is back in action on Saturday at Mesa for a 12 noon game to finish the series.
