MCC athletes earn nearly $3-million in four-year scholarships
Mesa, AZ – It is the goal of just about every two-year college athlete to earn a scholarship to a four-year institution. And Mesa Community College athletes are among the best at accomplishing that feat.
During the 2017-18 academic year, MCC athletes have already been awarded grants-in-aid totaling just short of three million dollars. And the total is likely to rise as several T-Birds have not yet made their four-year selection.
As of this writing a total of 60 Mesa athletes are headed to four-year schools with scholarships worth approximately $2,917,000.
And at MCC that is hardly out of the ordinary.
During the previous two years, 2015-17, the total was $5,567,000.
It all goes hand-in-hand with Mesa's overall academic success. In just the last five years 139 T-Birds have earned NJCAA All-Academic recognition having posted at least a 3.6 GPA. In addition, 34 complete teams have been honored by the NJCAA for having a cumulative 3.0 GPA, or better.
