Saturday Mesa Sports Wrap-Up

Mesa, AZ - It was a busy day in T-Bird athletics with men's and women's basketball playing at Glendale, baseball hosting a double-header against Benedictine JV, softball hosting a double-header against Grand Canyon Club, men's and women's tennis in New Mexico and track and field at Paradise Valley, below is a blurb about each event.

Women's Basketball

The T-Birds defeated the Glendale Gauchos, 76-42.  For the T-Birds, this is their fifth win in six games.  They move to 14-5 overall and 10-3 in conference play.  Mesa will head to Arizona Western on Wednesday to play the Matadors at 5:30 p.m.  Individual stats were not provided.

Men's Basketball

The T-Birds fell to the Glendale Gauchos, 78-73.  For the men, this is their fourth loss in five games.  Mesa now has a 13-7 overall record and are 8-5 in conference play.  Mesa will head down to Arizona Western on Wednesday for a 7:30 start.  No invdividual stats were provided.

Softball

Mesa swept their first two games of the season over Grand Canyon Club, 8-0 in game one and 19-1 in game two.  The T-Birds start the season 2-0 and will play host to Scottsdale for a double-header on Tuesday, game one starts on one p.m.

Baseball

Baseball moves to 3-0 on the season with two victories over Benedictine JV.  The T-Birds defeated Benedictine JV on Friday as well.  The T-Birds will be on the road on Tuesday at Arizona Christian for a 3 p.m. start then back home on Wednesday, hosting Arizona Christian at 3 p.m. (If Mesa wins Tuesday, it will be Head Coach Tony Cirelli's 800th coaching victory)
