MCC Athletics Honors the Fall Sports with Banquet

The Mesa Community College athletic department hosted a banquet to honor the 2016 MCC fall sports.

There was much to be celebrated by the six fall sports, with four of the six teams being ranked nationally during the season, five teams competing in the regional or conference playoffs and eight athletes having earned conference and national player of the week honors.

For women's soccer, Maia Gajate earned Impact Newcomer, Monica Chavez earned Most Improved Player, Syndey White earned the Thunderbird Award and Brandi Alderson earned team Most Valuable Player.

For men's soccer, Jose Luis Soto earn team Most Valuable Player, Austin Rios earned Defensive Player of the Year and Benji Delgadillo earned Offensive Player of the Year.

For Volleyball, Breanna Scott earned team Most Valuable Player, Tamra Hunt earned Most Improved Player, Cokie Gritus earned the Best Teammate Award and Megan Derr earned the Hardest Worker Award.

For football, Rathen Ricedorff earn team Most Valuable Player, Isiah Moore earned Offensive Most Valuable Player and Amonai Itaaehau earned Defensive Most Valuable Player.

It was a great night filled with food and laughter and we again congratulate all the fall sports on an excellent season.
