The Mesa Community College Athletic program teamed up with the City of Mesa Youth Sports for an event called "Friday Night Lights" on Friday night at John D. Riggs Stadium.

Over 30 T-Bird athletes from the football, men's and women's soccer programs helped instruct around 150 youth in both soccer and football drills and competition.

"It's a great oppurtunity for our players to be role models," said Mesa Women's Head Soccer Coach Drew Guarneri, "these kids look up to them."

This was the first time this event was put on by the City of Mesa Youth Sports.

"To these young kids, this is something they will remember for a lifetime," said Mesa Athletic Director John Mulhern.
